Friendship is Fickle.
In bad weather you want to snuggle close and swap
Horror stories.
And I soothe you with stories of my own and kind words
And you,
‘Love me lots.’
In good weather I get photos of you jiving in the sun
On a beach with no name
Flirting with strangers, you smile a hurried
‘See ya later’

Friendship is Bitter
‘Hey who’s that girl in the mirror?’
She is my new best friend
She lies just like you,
But I find her easier to believe.

Friendship is Soothing
You could have joined me in my tantrum
As I smashed the glass and hit the wall,
Hurling savage words at all the world.
But you sat there, so calm that I had to question
Just what it was I was fighting for.

Friendship Trusts
I can shut my eyes and sleep
And know that you are watching me.

Friendship Hates
No one makes a better target
Than the friend you know so well
Shoot them down with your knowledge.

Friendship is Forever
It’s a scary thing to give your heart,
And though I know
She will drop it more than once
She will never really break it.

It’s pretend
It’s divine
It’s a pain
It’s insane
It’s a shrug when you don’t agree
And giggle when you do.

Laughter is only good if it is shared
Tears mean more if understood
And love
Between friends
Is chaos, is beauty, and is the only thing
That defines me.
